Jalandhar: BSF IG wishes Diwali to soldiers, appeals to include millet in food

Jalandhar, October 19 (IANS). Border Security Force (BSF) organized a grand funfair at its headquarters in Jalandhar. The fair was inaugurated by BSF Inspector General (IG) Atul Fuljale by cutting the ribbon. On this occasion, he extended warm Diwali wishes to the soldiers and their families. Various battalions of BSF set up colorful stalls of sweets, clothes, household items and eatables in the fair. Arrangements for swings, games and recreational activities have also been made for children. Exhibition of various items made of millet along with Diwali items has special attraction to the fair. The stalls based on millet attracted everyone’s attention in the fair. While talking to the media, IG Atul Fuljale said that consumption of millet is very beneficial for health. He said, “We include items made from millet like soup, millet roti and other dishes in the food of the soldiers, so that they stay healthy and can protect the country in a better way.” He said that millet traders were invited to set up stalls in the fair and BSF purchases millet items from them throughout the year. This initiative not only promotes the health of the soldiers, but also provides encouragement to local businessmen. IG Fuljale also mentioned the social service work of BSF. He said that during the recent heavy floods in Punjab, BSF soldiers have safely rescued more than 5,000 people and around 8,000 animals in Firozpur. BSF also organized several medical camps to prevent diseases in flood affected areas. Apart from this, reconstruction works in the affected areas were completed in just 15-20 days. The soldiers showed their devotion to duty by providing security to people in various calamities. He said on this occasion of Diwali, senior BSF officers will celebrate with the soldiers so that their morale increases and they work with more enthusiasm in the service of the country. –IANS AKS/VC Share this story Tags
