Raja Khas becomes Himachals First Solar Model Village
Dharamshala (HP), May 27 (PTI) Raja Khas, a village in the Indora Section of Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh, deserved the distinction to become Himachal’s first solar mode town, deputy commissioner Hemraj Bairwa Tuesday. Bairwa chaired a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) under Prime Minister Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, saying that Raja Khas had emerged as the top-performing village below 43 short list towns in the Kangra district. These towns participated in a six -month competition aimed at choosing an ideal solar village based on the solar installation performance, a statement issued here said. “The government will give a £ 1 award for solar development in Raja Khas, which sets a model for adopting green energy in rural areas,” he added. The DC said that a model for the implementation agency Solar Village was nominated to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) and the forefront of the town’s transformation in a fully solar powered settlement. He emphasized that the Prime Minister Surya Ghar scheme will be effectively implemented across the district to promote clean energy and reduce the dependence on conventional power sources. Project Officer of Himachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (Himurja) and DLCC Lidal Secretary Ramesh Thakur said that the implementation of the scheme was handled by the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd, while Himurja was appointed as the nodal agency. He further expanded that the most important components of the Scheme Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for domestic consumers, solar saturation in government buildings, incentives for local bodies and the development of Adarsh Urja Grams (Model Energy Villages).
