Opposition's victory in pension amount, our vision is to steal the Nitish government: Tejashwi Yadav
Patna, June 21 (IANS). In an important decision, the Bihar government announced to increase the amount of age pension and disabled pension from Rs 400 to Rs 1.100 under Social Security schemes. After this decision, the political movement in the state intensified. On the one hand, where the government calls it a big step in the public interest, the opposition is trying to call it its victory. The leader of the opposition Tejashwi Yadav responded sharply to the government’s decision at a press conference held in Patna. He said that this decision is the result of our policy, our pressure and our vision. When we were in government, we prepared a blueprint to raise pension. Now this government is mimicking our own thoughts and wants to take credits. He said that on December 16, 2024, we announced on the public platform that if their government was formed, the elderly would receive a pension of Rs 1.500 per month. Today, the government talks about Rs 1.100, but no concrete provision was made in this direction during the budget session. Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the government announced only, but the budgetary determination was not made for this. When the budget session took place in March 2025, the opposition raised the question of raising the old pension as well as social security to women, but the government showed no seriousness. He said the government could soon announce a scheme like ‘Maa sister Moon Yojana’, which is completely part of their alliance thinking and priority. Tejashwi has plagued and said that the government itself does not think of any policy, so it is copying our plans. When we were in government, we gave work and letters of appointment to millions of youth. Now the current government repeats the same thing, but they have no new vision. Tejashwi further said that the current government is directionless about the development of Bihar and the public has now understood everything. He expressed the confidence that the people of Bihar would respond to this repetition and show politics in the 2025 election. -Ians psk/abm shares this story tags
