Srinagar, October 17 (INS). Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a comprehensive review meeting in Anantnag and Kulgam districts on Friday. In the meeting, he took stock of the progress of development works and major schemes. During this, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized on expediting the development works with periodic review and to avoid any kind of lapse of funds. He also emphasized on strengthening core infrastructure, improving healthcare and education facilities and giving a new boost to tourism, horticulture and allied sectors to boost income and job creation. He called for close inter-departmental coordination, close monitoring of works and timely completion of all ongoing projects to ensure efficient public service delivery. The chief minister on Friday inaugurated major urban infrastructure projects in Kulgam, including solid waste management and material recycling facility at Liro, municipal shopping complex and modern abattoir, aimed at improving trade and civic amenities in the district. The chief minister earlier chaired a comprehensive review meeting of Kulgam district, in which the progress in key areas was assessed. The Chief Minister appreciated the effective response of the district during the recent floods and reviewed the measures taken for the restoration of infrastructure and public service delivery. He directed the officials to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the winter, expedite permanent repair of damaged infrastructure, speed up field inspections, improve inter-departmental coordination and give priority to the completion of all ongoing projects within the set time frame to ensure visible results at the ground level. The Chief Minister visited the stalls set up by various departments in Kulgam where achievements under major government schemes, public welfare initiatives and flagship programs were displayed.
