Srinagar, April 4 (IANS). People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti strongly objected to the transfer of 48 Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officers by the Lieutenant -Governor in Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized the silence and actions of the National Conference (NC) government on the issue. During a conversation with reporters in Srinagar, Mufti described the current government as poorly, saying that it completely did not protect the interests of civil servants. Mehbooba Mufti warned that these widespread transfers without consulting the elected government weakened the democratic structures and autonomy of the institutions of Jammu and Kashmir. He said: “This government has failed to represent the pursuit and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite six months, there was no discussion about youth, employees who were fired in jail from the work and unemployment, despite the course of six months.” Mufti expressed concern about the current situation and said that there was an atmosphere of fear, oppression and raids in the area. The head of the PDP accused NC of collusion with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said the government is working to continue the BJP’s agenda. He also cited the cancellation of Article 370 as permission of an NC. Mufti insisted that his party be committed to protecting the interests of Jammu and Kashmir and will vote on every issue affecting the area. At the same time, Mufti strongly condemned the Central Government policy on the issue related to the Waqf Council. He said: “Waqf is an institution of minorities and Muslims. To attack it and succeed in parliament is similar to robbery. It is very wrong and that should not happen.” Mehbooba Mufti demanded the NC government to respond to these administrative challenges and to precede the interests of the people. -Ians Akks/GKT Share these Story Tags
