Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday laid the basis of this very expected project by Virtual Medium, raising new hope among the people of Chakai and Jamui. This scheme, which is built at a cost of about Rs 2579 crore, will not only deliver water to the countries, but also give a new flight to the economy, employment and tourism in the area. Minister of the Bihar government and Chakai Mla Sumit Kumar Singh, who was present at the event, said it was the dream of my grandfather Shri Krishna Singh, who will come true today with the help of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He informed that Barnar Reservoir would be the first congestion in the state, which is at 74 meters and 285 meters long. Upon completion of the project, 22 thousand hectares of land will receive irrigation facility. Through the pipeline system, water will reach the fields directly. The minister said this project is a big step towards agriculture revolution, green development and environmental protection. The journey of incomplete dreams to reality, the Barnar Reservoir scheme was started in 1976 by the then Chief Minister of Jagannath Mishra and local leader Sri Krishna Singh. Many leaders such as Chandrashekhar Singh, DP Yadav and Dipnarayan Singh fought for this, but due to political instability, the plan stopped for decades. The initial cost of the scheme was just eight crore calls, which has now increased to Rs 2579.37 crore. Upon completion of the project, 22 thousand hectares of land will be irrigated and there is a possibility of extra production of 22 Lakh quintale. In addition, 10 MW of power generation and drinking water supply facility will also be available in the surrounding towns. It will also be a milestone in the field of tourism. Nitish’s initiative back on track, this project, which has long been buried in files, gained a new life during the Pragati Yatra of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. On his initiative it was approved by the Cabinet and the construction work was assigned to Nagarjuna Construction Company. It is targeted to be completed within 43 months. People say that the dam will change the picture of Sono, Jhajha, Khaira and Gidhaur and Jamui district will get a new identity on state’s development card.
