Jaunpur will shine with indigenous lamps on Diwali, Muslim women give a new light to 'vowel for locally'
Jaunpur, October 13 (IANS). As the festival of Diwali approached, women of rural self -help groups (SHG) in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, began to make indigenous lamps. Muslim women also make wax-burning earthly tricolor lamps under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Diwali of this year is also special because Premier Narendra Modi has asked the countrymen to adopt Swadeshi and these women contribute in the same direction. Jaunpur’s Zafroon Ijaz is the head of ‘Milky himself Help Group’. This group contains 10 women Rihanna, Chand Tara, Najbun, Sofia, Johri, Indu Bala, Bishakha, Subhavati and Seema. These women prepare lamps every day from 11am to 5pm. Zafroon Ijaz told Ians: “We have been doing this work for three years. This time, taking into account Diwali, we received orders for more than 15 thousand lamps. The question has not only come from Jaunpur, but also from Mumbai.” He said that only 1000 lamps were made in the first year, but that production and income are now increasing every year. This year the income per woman is about Rs 10 thousand. Zafroon said he started his savings, and he later received the help of Rs 1 Lakh 10 thousand from the government. He said: ‘We buy earthlamps from other groups, from which they also earn. It is a completely indigenous product, there is no machinery in it; Everything is made by the village women. Zafrone proudly said that one of her husband’s friends lives in America and that he liked this lamp a lot. They took 50 lamps to America as samples and will celebrate this Diwali there. This earthenema was made from one to one and a half hour of washing burning. The price of one lamp is Rs 15, while a parcel of 12 lamps is sold for Rs 150. Zafroon said: ‘We are very grateful for the appeal made by Premier Modi to adopt Swadeshi. We want the things made in our country to be used only in our country, which is the real light of Diwali. -—Is Ash/BC
