This move is seen as part of JDU’s strategy to attract backward class voters. The aim of the party is to gain the support of this class. The number of candidates from extremely backward class and general category is 22-22. 15 candidates from scheduled caste, four from minority community and one from scheduled tribe got tickets. There are eight candidates from the Dhanuk and Yadav castes, three from the Nishad community in the list of JDU candidates, eight from the Yadav and Dhanuk castes and three from the Mallah caste. Number two is from Gangauta. The number of candidates from Kamat, Chandravanshi, Teli and Kalwar castes is two each. There is one candidate each from the Halwai, Kanu, Agrahari, Sudhi and Goswami communities. The 15 Scheduled Caste seats are divided in this way. Among the 15 scheduled caste people who got tickets, five seats were given to Musahar-Manjhi, five to Ravidas, two to Pasi, one seat each to Paswan, Sardar-Bansfour, Kharwar and Dhobi. Rajputs got the maximum of 10 seats in the general category, while Bhumihars got the maximum of 10 seats. Rajput caste people got nine in the general category. JDU has fielded nine candidates from the Bhumihar caste. While two tickets were given from Brahmin caste and one from Kayastha caste. Minority community got four seats, two extremely backward and two from general category. Among the four people from minority community to whom JDU has given tickets, two are extremely backward class and two are from general category.
