The opposition to Trump’s Agenda Mamdani, a democratic socialist and recent winner of Democratic Primary, made its strong opposition to Trump’s policy. “My approach to Washington will not be a reflexive; it is one that will be in contrast to Donald Trump’s administration when it comes to New Yorkers, when it is at the expense of the well -being of the people I want to serve,” he said. He points to Trump’s unfulfilled promises as proof of disconnecting. “If the president … actually wants to act on the cheaper groceries … is a different conversation,” Mamdani added. Message to Trump: ‘The same thing I tell you now’ when asked what he would say if Trump calls him directly, Mamdani replies: ‘I’ll say Donald Trump the same thing I tell you now.’ The White House denies Trump involvement in the midst of the back and forth, and the White House claimed that Trump intends to intervene in the race. “As President Trump has repeatedly said, he does not intend to get involved or approve the New York City beer race,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital.
