John Magaro Joins Apple TV Series ‘Presumed Innocent’ Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: John Magaro (The Agency, materialists) has joined the recurring cast of Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent for Season 2.
He joins the previously announced cast led by Rachel Brosnahan, who also executive produces, as well as Matthew Rhys, Courtney B. Vance, Fiona Shaw, and Jack Reynor.
“Dissection of a Murder,” the debut legal thriller novel by Jo Murray, inspires the second installment of Presumed Innocent. It centers on an ambitious defense attorney (Brosnahan) who takes on a high-profile case.
Vance plays Leila’s boss at the law firm; Shaw plays a partner at the firm and Leila’s second chair; Rhys plays Leila’s husband, the prosecutor on the case; and Reynor plays her client, the defendant.
Season 1 of the series, led by Jake Gyllenhaal, was inspired by Scott Turow’s courtroom thriller “Presumed Innocent.” It tells the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when one of its own is suspected of the crime. The book was published in 1987 and was turned into a 1990 feature starring Harrison Ford as Rusty Sabich, the role Gyllenhaal took on.
The show’s freshman season received four Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Gyllenhaal; Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Camp; Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Sarsgaard; and, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Negga.
The title comes from Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. Kelley serves as showrunner on Season 2 alongside Erica Lipez. JJ Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich executive produce for Bad Robot. Kelley executive produces through David E. Kelley Productions alongside Matthew Tinker and Lipez. Dustin Thomason also serves as executive producer. In addition to Brosnahan, Gyllenhaal, EPs through his Nine Stories banner. Authors Turow and Murray co-executive produced.
