Kanhi Ram has dedicated his life to the interests of Dalits and the exploited: Ajay Rai

Lucknow, October 9 (IANS). A tribute meeting and discussion session was organized at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Office on Thursday on the occasion of the death anniversary of the founder of the Bahujan Sama Party (BSP), Kanshi Ram. During this, the leaders of Congress remembered the work that Kanhi Ram did for social justice and Dalit upliftment and appreciated his contribution. He also fiercely targeted the BSP chief Mayawati. Meanwhile, while talking to Ians, the President of Congress Ajay Rai said that Kanshi Ram was a great leader and social worker, who dedicated his life to protect the interests of the poor, Dalits and extended classes. Kanshi Ram not only respected Dalits, but also set an example by making a woman like Mayawati, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Ajay Rai emphasized that Congress always struggled for the respect and safety of Dalits and the underprivileged. Referring to former party president Rahul Gandhi, he said that everywhere where atrocities and injustice took place, Rahul Gandhi and the congress stood like a rock and supported the victims. The Congress Party decides to continue Kanshi Ram’s vision of social equality and Bahujan upliftment. Ajay Rai took a dig at Mayawati by referring to the recent murder of a Dalit youth. He said: “Recently, a Dalit youth was brutally murdered by Goons. In his last moments, he remembered Rahul Gandhi and not Mayawati. It shows that the Dalit community today has confidence in Congress and Rahul Gandhi. The congress is the true wishes of the Dalits and the exploitation.” Rai made a spade at the crowd that gathered at Mayawati’s recent rally, said: “The crowd in question was completely sponsored. It was funded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The vehicles were arranged by the RTO and diesel was filled under the government system.” He claimed that this crowd was not a symbol of the popularity of BSP, but was part of a conspiracy by the ruling party. -—IANS AKKS/GKT Share this story Tags
