Karnataka Pollution Control Board Order Immediately Closing Big Boss Studio
Bengaluru, October 7 (PTI) The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has ordered the immediate closure of the studio premises that the Kannada reality program Bigg Boss in Bidadi in Bengaluru South District offered, referring to serious violations of environmental regulations. The board issued a notice of October 6 to Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures), in which he directed that all activities on the site be stopped immediately. In the official communication, the board said: “The mentioned premises are used for large-scale entertainment and studio operations without the requirement for the establishment and consent for the operation of the Water Act (Prevention and Control of Pollution), 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.” The notice added: “In light of the violations observed, you are hereby instructed to conclude the activities immediately and to give an explanation to this office within the particular period.” Copies of the closing order were also sent to the Deputy Commissioner, Ramanagara district, the managing director of Bescom, and the executive engineer and assistant executive (Electric), Ramanagara Taluk, and after their coordination in the enforcement of the Richtly. The notice further warned that “failure to comply with this order will attract criminal action in terms of applicable environmental laws.” The Bigg boss Kannada edition, hosted by actor Kichcha Supeep, has been filmed in a custom set on Bidadi for several years. The show, among the state’s most viewed television shows, is known for its extensive production scale and high viewer involvement.
