Chennai, September 29 (IANS). Police, who are investigating the bumps during an election period in TVK leader Vijay Ki Karur, arrested the party’s Western district secretary Mathiajhagan on Monday. The accident took place on September 27 at Vijay’s election event in Karur. Eyewitnesses said there was chaos due to sudden power failure, through which people ran to an extra power system and exit gates. In the bumps that followed, 41 people, including women and children, were killed and 110 people injured, of whom 51 people have been restored so far. Initially, Karur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Selvaraj handled the case, but the top police leadership of the state replaced him with a high level investigation into additional superintendent of the police premanand. Police registered cases under five divisions against various TVK officials (secretary secretary Anand, joint secretary secretary Nirmalkumar and now Mathiajgan), including the threat of human life and the disregard for public orders. In a parallel action on wrong information, the authorities have arrested three people (Sagayam of Perumbakam (BJP), Mangdu (TVC) of Mangdu (TVK) (Sarathkumar of TVC’s social media administrator) for spreading rumors about the incident on social media.
