Chris Columbus denies making another home film: Unable to catch up again what we did 35 years ago

Los Angeles, August 16 (PTI) filmmaker Chris Columbus, may have created one of the most beloved franchises with ‘Home Alone’ films, but has no plans to return to another successor and believe it should be left alone. Columbus’s director “Home Alone” was released in 1990, starring Macaulay Culkin. The film revolves around Culkin’s character Kevin, an eight -year -old who left the house alone while the whole family leaves for a holiday. ‘Home Alone’ became a sensation at the box office, which emerged as the highest film of 1990 in the US. The film has acquired more than 476 million dollars in the box office worldwide, against the 18 million dollars budget. This was followed by a successor in 1992, entitled “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”. In the recent interview, the main actor mentions the possibility of returning to the successor if he is paid enough. But Columbus made it clear that what was made 35 years later should not be touched again because it could only be a mistake. “I think ‘at home alone’ really exists as, not at this hourly, but it was this very special moment, and you can’t really catch it up again,” he told ET in an interview. “I think it’s a mistake to return and take back something we did 35 years ago … I think it should be left alone,” he added. In addition to the two films with Culkin, the franchise had other films with various child actors, including ‘Home Alone 3’, released in 1997, ‘Home Alone 4’ in 2002, ‘Home Alone: The Holiday Heist’ in 2012, and ‘Home Sweet Home’ in 2021.
