Trading Body has demanded the interim textile export protection scheme after America's rates have been stopped
New -delhi, April 10 (IANS). The Indian textile industry Confederation (Citi) said on Thursday that the 90 -day relief in the US recipient tariff is positive for Indian textile and clothing exporters facing high tariff barriers. The Citi requested the government to start the interim textile export protection scheme. US President Donald Trump has announced a ‘ban’ of 90 days on receiving a receiver except China. During this period, in addition to the current fee, fees, taxes, repair or appropriate fees, a much less recipe of 10 percent will apply. Rakesh Mehra, chairman of Citi, said: “Temporary relief will provide Indian textiles and clothing exporters in the short term, which has high tariff barriers. However, it is only a temporary measure. It is important that the government of India increases its connection to US peers to achieve more sustainable and mutual solutions.” He emphasized the importance of the US market and said that America is the largest destination for Indian textiles and clothing exports. Mehra said: “The government is actively printing bilateral discussions for better tariff access, and the industry is calling on the government to consider starting interim textile export protection scheme.” He said such measures would help reduce the effects of extra tariff costs, especially given very few cloth and clothing exporters. He further stated that ongoing US -China trade tensions provide a strategic opportunity for the country. He emphasized, “United States is trying to diversify its source except China, and India has the ability to appear as a reliable option. However, it will require concrete efforts to achieve active diplomacy and more favorable and stable tariff arrangements.
