Kozhikode, October 10 (IANS). A violent collision broke out on Friday night between workers of the congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and CPI-M in Perambara, Kerala. Police saw police used Lathicharge and tear gas to spread the crowd. The injured include the congress parliamentary Shafi Parambil, Kozhikode DCC President Praveen Kumar and several other UDF workers. DSP Hariprasad was also injured during the collision. The violence follows tensions associated with the CKG College Union election, where a dispute between the Student Federation of India (SFI) and the Kerala Students Union (KSU) led to collisions the day before. The unrest spread to the city center during a protest march by UDF and CPI-M supporters. While the temples were blazing, stone and scramble between competing groups broke out. Police used Lathi’s charge and released tear gas peel to control the situation. “The police should also not think that they will get away with the attack of our workers,” Parambil said. The opposition leader vd Satheesan claimed that Parambil was attacked by CPI (M) criminals and police officers acting as Goons on behalf of the party. Sathesan said it should not be forgotten that it is the result of a government that promotes golden smuggling, goldft theft and treasury looting.
