KKB shoots civilians' cars in Nabire, 1 person killed - 4 injured
Nabire – The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya opened fire on a car driving through Kali Semen area, Wadio Atas, West Nabire District, Nabire Regency, Central Papua. As a result, 1 person was reported dead. “As a result, a passenger in the Hilux type car, namely Masturiyadi (50 years old), died of a gunshot wound on the right side of the head,” Head of the Cartenz Peacekeeping Force Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani said as reported by Antara, Saturday (18/10/2025). Besides the deceased, four more people were injured. They are Yance Makai (38), Aser Kegou (45), Martinus Makai (42) and Ari. PAGE TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Hilux type vehicle used by the victims was in a heavily damaged condition. There are many bullet holes in the vehicle body. The five victims were evacuated to the Nabire Regional Hospital and received immediate treatment by medical staff at the hospital. After receiving the report, personnel of the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force together with the Nabire Police immediately conducted an investigation regarding the shooting of civilians in Kali Semen, Wadio Atas, West Nabire District, Nabire Regency. “Currently, we are focusing on hunting down the group of perpetrators responsible for this incident and strengthening security in the West Nabire area. We are increasing patrols and surveillance on routes that are considered vulnerable because community safety is the main priority of the Cartenz peace operation,” said Faizal. (isa/isa)
