Pt Anugerah Surya Pratama, a foreign investment business from China, is known to perform mining activities on Manuran Island that covers an area of about 746 hectares without environmental management systems and without lying down wastewater management. At this place, KLH/BPLH has drawn up a warning way pointer as a form of termination of activity. Meanwhile, PT Gag Nickel works on Gag Island with an area of about 6,030,53 hectares. The two islands are classified as small islands, so that mining activities in it are contrary to the number 1 of 2014 regarding the management of coastal areas and small islands. Hanif said his party is currently evaluating the environmental approval of PT ASP and PT GN. If proven to be contrary to the appropriate legal provisions, their environmental permit will be revoked. “Mining on a small island is a form of denial of the principle of intergeneration justice. KLH/BPLH will not hesitate to recall the permit if it is proven to damage the irreplaceable ecosystem,” Hanif Faisol said in his statement on Thursday (5/6/2025). Meanwhile, PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa has found no environmental documents and PPKH in its activities at Batang Pele Island. All exploration activities are stopped. Eventually, PT Kawei Sejahtera mining was proven to open a mine outside the environmental permit and outside the PPKH area of 5 hectares on Kae Island. The activity causes sedimentation on the coast, and this company will be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of environmental repair and possibly civil matter. Decision of the Constitutional Court Number 35/Puu-XXI/2023 also strengthened the policy of ban on mining activities in coastal areas and small islands. The Constitutional Court argued that mineral exploitation in these areas could cause irreversible damage, which could violate the principle of prevention of environmental hazards and intergeneration justice. Hanif said the government is committed to cracking down all forms of offenses that endanger the environment and the future of the coastal areas of Indonesia. Hanif also emphasized that the principle of caution and sustainability would be the basis for action on this offense.
