Living the graduation of onion, Fadli Zon spoke of cultural character to cope with the challenges of AI

Jakarta – Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon attended the graduation of the Bachelor, Masters and doctoral programs of the even semester period of the academic year 2024/2025 at the University of Indonesia Hall (UI). Fadli Zon emphasized that graduates in college must have a strong cultural character to meet the challenges of the digital era and artificial intelligence (AI). “The graduation is an academic celebration as well as an anniversary of the great ideals of the founders of the country that education is the way to give the next generation that is better, cultivated and devoted to the motherland. Characters integrated with knowledge, skills and attitudes will be an important capital for graduates. (9/13/2025). Fadli Zon said that education is not only the transfer of knowledge, but also the formation of cultural -based character. He considered it important, so graduates in the university in the world of work could compete without losing national identity. Our challenge is how this culture can be worldwide, as the phenomenon of Korean culture loved by the younger generation. Therefore, the development and utilization of culture must be in contact with digital technology and artificial intelligence,” he said. Fadli Zon has explained several cultural packaging strategies with a touch of technology, including digitalization of cultural heritage, the development of cultural -based creative products, social media, the use of greater reality and virtual reality, integration of artificial intelligence, to collaboration between cultural communities, artists and technological actors. At the end of his remarks, he emphasized that universities play a strategic role through the Tridharma of Higher Education to print graduates with cultural character, rooted in local wisdom and able to build global networks. “Hopefully you can all hold the future by still maintaining the Indonesian culture,” he said. Meanwhile, the onion rector Heri Hermansyah congratulated the graduates. He also said that onion succeeds in retaining his position as the best university in Indonesia. “The first time in history there is a university in Indonesia that has entered the ranks of the Top 200 world. UI is the 189th global,” he concluded.
