KP2MI seals companies posting PMI to the Middle East, this is the offense
Jakarta – The Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) has sealed and temporarily suspended some of the business activities of the Indonesian migrant worker placement company (P3MI), PT Alfa Nusantara Perdana. The company is known to place prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in the Middle East region who are still in moratorium status. “We from the Directorate General of Protection have been doing in-depth research for 4 months. So we did not immediately give this sanction, there was a clarification process, there was a mediation process, that’s how many stages, because we also gave them the right to answer. But at a certain point they could not provide the answer, explanation, and did not produce results, so we had to KP sanction, Director General give,” said Rendi General of Protection. to journalists while witnessing the sealing at PT Alfa Nusantara Perdana, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/10/2025). From the results of the inspection it was proven that the company P2MI violated Ministerial Regulation Number 4 of 2025 Article 9 paragraph (1) letters a, k and t. These violations include not having an Indonesian Migrant Worker Recruitment Permit (SIP2MI), posting migrant workers in moratorium areas, and failing to resolve issues with migrant workers already posted. One of the fatal violations is the posting of workers to countries in the Middle East region where a moratorium is still in place since 2015. So, if you send them to a country with a moratorium, you are definitely in a place of the people not violating it,” because you are not violating it. emphasized. The sanction imposed is in the form of a temporary suspension of business activities for three months, as set out in the Decree of the Director General of Protection Number 19 of 2025. During the sanction period, companies are prohibited from accepting new prospective workers and are obliged to complete their responsibilities for workers who have already left, including their repatriation and compliance with their rights. The sealed atmosphere at the PT Alfa Nusantara Perdana office was open and attended by a number of KP2MI officials. At the site, a seal board has been installed at the main door, indicating the cessation of recruitment activities and processing of placement documents. For KP2MI, this step is a symbol that the state will not remain silent about violations that have the potential to victimize migrant workers. Renardi added that this case began with a report of a migrant worker with the initials Y from East Jakarta who was believed to have been non-procedurally sent to a Middle Eastern country. The search results found that the worker’s visa was processed through PT Alfa Nusantara Perdana’s Enjaz data system. “For 90 days he must complete the above, (violations of) article 1 letters a, k and t. If he completes it before 90 days, it will be revoked. Finally he can operate again,” explained Renardi. Besides ceasing its activities, KP2MI also requires PT Alfa Nusantara Perdana to submit a list of workers posted in the Middle East region over the past two years, as well as a list of work partners in the region. This data is needed so that the government can track all workers already abroad and ensure protection. Renardi stressed that this move was not a reactive action, but rather a form of state firmness to curb the practice of posting migrant workers who do not comply with procedures. “So these are things that we really have to solve. To show the public that the government is present, the state is present,” he concluded. As a reflection, Renardi said that KP2MI will continue to intensify supervision and improvements to private workforce placement companies. According to him, protection of migrant workers must start at recruitment, not only when they work abroad. (acn/ega)
