NCW: Advice issued to general secretaries of all states regarding sexual harassment of women

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has consulted to general secretaries of all states and trade union areas to direct all coaching/educational institutions to ensure the Women’s Sexual Hearing Act (Prevention, Prohibition and Prevention), 2013 at the workplace. The commission said that in recent years sexual harassment becomes one of the most push issues affecting women around the world. The commission is concerned about the incidents of sexual harassment in coaching/educational institutions, which is why chairman Relha Sharma wrote a letter to the general secretaries of all states and trade union areas and instructed the officers to strictly implement the sexual harassment (prevention, prohibition). The commission in his letter also requested the Secretary of State that all coaching institutions should be instructed to take effective steps to prevent sexual harassment of girls students. The commission has also asked all the stakeholders to instruct the officials concerned to organize an awareness program in the Women’s Sexual Harassment Act, 2013 at the workplace to ensure that the case of sexual harassment is responsible and reported effectively. The commission also said that these coaching centers were registered with the officials concerned. The commission also requested that the background of those responsible for managing the centers should be investigated and that all these coaching/educational institutions should create a safe environment for the girl students. -Ians share this story
