While LO Candidate Pair Number 3 Mohamad Siddik Nur and Muksin Badar, Efendi Dali, previously told the KPU through a coordination meeting related to the absence of the debate. He said the candidate pair number 3 was not present due to budget efficiency and avoided the possible disturbance of Kamtibs before the voting day. “Three days before the implementation of the public debate, we gave notices and reasons why we choose not to attend the debate,” Efendi said. “We are concerned about the local financial condition. That’s why we hope the KPU can save money and not have to keep activities that waste the budget,” he added. Meanwhile, North Gorontalo KPU chairman Sofyan Jakfar said his party had had a public debate, although the debate was not attended by a candidate pair. “Alhamdulillah, we carried out public debates by not attending the Paslon,” he said. According to him, candidate pair number 2 did not attend by giving an official and written reason. While candidate pair number 1 and 3 gave a statement not to participate in the debate delivered by phone.
