Tarun Tahiliani closes the Fashion Week on October 12 with its ‘Bejeweled’ collecting summary, the upcoming Fashion Showcase, which begins on October 9, offers an increased ready-to-wear with a Couture Twist Lakme Fashion Week, in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India, returned to Delhi, October 9. More than 20 designers will represent a new closet, consisting of increased ready-to-wear-carrier with elements borrowed from couture and keeps traditional crafts at heart. Here’s a look at some notable showcase: Everyday Glamor View Full Image expects a lot of Shibori, Bandhani and Ajrakh at Inca’s showcase AMIT Hansraj, the founder of Label Inca, his attempts to make comfortable everyday clothes. “I’ve never believed that Heritage should sit in the trunk or behind glass,” says the designer. “It feels most alive when it moves with us: when Kantha’s wandering stitches are transferred into a jacket, thrown over the denim, when Shibori’s Indigo tide by a working day tunic wrinkle, when Leheriya’s geometry warms up an evening walk,” the designer says as he talks about his latest collection. Expect you can see a lot of Shibori, Bandhani and Ajrakh in Kaftans, long jackets and jumpsuits and kimonos, which are placed in a way, no dust is wasted. Feather light fashion Abraham & Thakore’s collection of Warp & WEFT focuses on two emblematic pieces of traditional clothing-the Dhoti and the Lungi and re-contextualize their forms through a contemporary lens. The border Dhoti, for example, is reinterpreted as playful handkerchief dresses and baby roll tops (short blouse, with a slight flame at the hips and puffed sleeves) using sequins, metallics and embroidery, while the Lungi’s Fluid Meetry Bandhgalas, Bundis and Kurtas inform. For the collection, the designers, David Abraham, Rakesh Thakore and Kevin Nigli, have redesigned Ikat in 100% Tencel as a base yarn instead of the traditional cotton, giving heritage an extraordinary weightlessness. Star Energy View Full Image Nikita Mhaisalkar’s silhouette oscillate between flowing curtains and sculpted forms Nikita Mhaisalkar uses shapes of embroidery, metal threads and multicolored stones to offer the beauty of galaxies, constellations and stars on long dresses, kurtas and skirts. The silhouettes oscillate between fluid belts and sculpted shapes. Rich velvets, pure coverings and low tulle, for example, create depth and structured corsetry and asymmetrical cuts give a modern edge. Mhaisalkar also employed Rotanbamboo to build corsets, and contains crystals and shine-hyolog raw raw materials to create a bright starry sky on clothing. Back to Nature View Full Image Pankaj & Nidhi’s ‘Araquis’ is inspired by colors and fluidity of sand dunes known for masterful extrapolating Appliqué, designers Pankaj and Nidhi Ahuja of the Pankaj & Nidhi branded, inspired by colors and fluid. Architectural, yet flowing silhouettes, including short dresses, jackets with exaggerated shoulders, junk dresses and appliquéd choli blouses, will be seen in sunlight gold, earthenware, dawn blue, midnight white and lush greens – all that capture the colors and change the desert through a day. Shantnu Nikhil Couture, an ode to red carpet glam. The collection, Velora, is inspired by the film truck of the 1930s, and offers the concept of red carpet gloss using the home design codes of structure and curtains. The silhouettes consist of corset bodies with plunged lines and structural gowns, very decorated with pearls and crystals. The palette moves from power red and obsidian blacks to liquid silvers and light pearls.
