Lal van Bihar won gold in the World Championships for Athletics, strong welcome on homecoming
Patna, September 28 (IANS). Lal Shailesh Kumar of Bihar won the gold medal in the World Championships for Athletics in New -Delhi. Shailesh won ‘gold’ for the country on Saturday in the Men’s High Spring (T63 class). He also set the championship record with a jump of 1.91 meters. It was the first gold medal in this World Championships for India. Earlier, Shailesh Para Athletics India gave a silver medal in 2023. The Bihar government has announced a cash reward of Rs 75 Lakh to Shailesh about this achievement. Shailesh reached Patna on Sunday, where he was welcomed by fans. Shailesh described this experience as very special. After reaching Patna, 25-year-old Shailesh said his education had been underway in Bengaluru for the past 6-7 months. He gave his 100 percent to win the medal. In the World Championships in Athletics, Indian players received a lot of support, which made it possible to win the medal. Shailesh told reporters: “When the tournament started, we were sure we would perform brilliantly. I gave me 100 percent. We got a lot of support from the home field. Such a big tournament was organized in India, which was very good to see. I had too much injuries or financial problem but never lost. -Government helped financially, which was only possible.
