Land for work fraud: Lalu Prasad Yadav's petition, shock of the Delhi High Court

New -Delhi, May 31 (IANS). Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), chief and former chief minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, had a major setback of the Delhi High Court in the case of work fraud in exchange for land. The Supreme Court rejected Lalu’s petition in which he demanded the proceedings of the lower court in the case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The case is related to the alleged scam of Lalu Yadav to take land instead of working in Railways during a Railroad Minister from 2004 to 2009. Now the process of drawing up charges in the Lower Court will be in this case on June 2. Lalu Prasad Yadav, in his petition, demanded the cancellation of the FIR (FIR) and the charge sheet filed by the CBI. His lawyer and senior lawyer Kapil Sibal argued that the CBI began an investigation without the essential approval in terms of section 17A of the Corruption Prevention Act, which is illegal. However, the CBI said in court that they had already received approval to prosecute Lalu Yadav and other accused. The Supreme Court, after hearing the arguments of both parties, rejected the plea of Lalu Yadav and refused to remain the proceedings of the Lower Court. This scam is from the time when Lalu Prasad Yadav was a minister of railway in the UPA-1 government. It is alleged that irregularities were done during this time in the recruitment of Group D posts of railways. Land was taken from the candidates instead of the track, which was later recorded in the name of Lalu Yadav’s family or his neighbor. The CBI filed a charge sheet against Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, daughter Misa Bharti and many others in the case. The maintenance directorate (ED) also examines the aspect of money laundering in this case. -Ians shk/abm shares this story tags
