Law and Order Improvement in Uttarakhand, drops 12 percent in women's crimes: Ig Nilesh Anand
Dehradun, October 6 (IANS). Uttarakhand inspector -General of the Police (IG) Law and Order Nilesh Anand Bharan shared several important information on the report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). He said the report received positive indications of the state’s law and order control and improvement in crime control, but that new challenges also emerged in some areas. According to the NCRB report, there was a 12 percent reduction in women crimes in Uttarakhand. Ig Nilesh Anand described it as the result of intensive action, awareness campaigns and community cooperation of the police. He said this deficit was possible due to special operations and rapid action against women safety. Uttarakhand also performed better in the case of missing children. A total of 1,025 children went missing in 2023, of which 933 were restored in the same year. Currently, only 15 children are missing, reflecting the police activism. The crimes under the Poxo Act also recorded a 3 percent decline, which is a positive sign in terms of safety of children and youth. He further said that Uttarakhand secured second place in the country in the restoration of weapon under the Arms Act. In the case of cybercrime, Uttarakhand’s performance was better than the national average. Although the average pending cases in the country are 62.4 percent, it is only 45.9 percent in Uttarakhand. However, an unmarried situation came to light in NDPs (narcotics) cases. The NCRB report recorded an increase in the smuggling of synthetic drugs. Especially areas around schools and colleges appear as drug hotspots. The most important attacks of drug tablets also pointed to their growing use. Ig Nilesh Anand said although the positive aspects of the NCRB report are welcome, the growing tendency related to drugs is a serious concern. For this, the police, administration and educational institutions will have to take strict monitoring and prevention steps. He also called on the general public to notify suspicious activities and said that Uttarakhand police were committed to having crime control and security of the public and in the future also challenges with effective strategies. -Ians Aks/DSC shares this story -tags
