BJP ruled that Uttarakhand changes the names of 17 places associated with mughals
At the peak of controversy over the grave of Aurangzeb in Maharashtra, BJP -up Uttarakhand on Monday changed the name of 17 places in four districts of the state to eradicate all the references of the Mughal period. The places whose names have been changed include ten in the Haridwar district, four in Dehradun, two in Nainital and one place in Udham Singh Nagar. The name Aurangzebpur of Haridwar was changed to Shivaji Nagar, Ghaziwali’s name Arya Nagar, Khanpur’s name was changed to Shri Krishnpur and Khanpur Kursali to Ambedkar Nagar. Similarly, the name Miawala of Dehradun will now be changed to Ramjiwala and Chandpur Khurd to Prithviraj Nagar. Nawabi Road in Nainital was renamed Atal Road and the name Panchukki Marg was changed to the second RSS head to Guru Wolwalkar Marg. The BJP officially appreciated the state government for changing the name as part of the campaign to eradicate the final marks of slavery. Share this story -tags
