‘Learn to face society’: No police protection for couples marrying parents’ wishes, says Allahabad HC | Today news

The Allahabad High Court in Uttar Pradesh noted that couples who marry from their own will cannot claim police protection as a matter of right, unless there is a real perception of their lives and freedom. The court gave the ruling while deciding to submit an application that was submitted by a couple seeking protection. The court said it could provide security to a couple in a deserving case. But in the absence of any threat perception, such a couple “must learn to support each other and face society,” it says. Justice Saurabh Srivastava made this observation during the trial of a written petition submitted by Shreya Kesarwani and her husband seeking police protection and a direction for private respondents not to interfere in their peaceful marriage. The Court After undergoing the averages in their petition, their written petition disposed and pointed out that there was no serious threat perception to the requesters. “There is no requirement to give them any order for the protection of the police in light of the ruling delivered by the Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh vs State of UP, and another, in which the courts are not intended to provide protection to such youths who simply fled according to their own wishes.” The court also noted that there was no material or reasonable basis to conclude that the lives and freedoms of the requesters were in danger. “There is not even an iota of evidence to claim that private respondents (family members of one of the requesters) are likely to cause physical or spiritual assault to the requesters,” the court noted, as reported by the PTI news agency. ‘Find a real perception of threat’ The court noted that the requesters did not submit a specific application in the form of information to the relevant police authorities to submit any FIR against the alleged illegal behavior of the private respondents. However, the court noted that the requesters had already submitted a representation to the Superintendent of the Police (SP), Chitrakot district, the court said: “In the event that the police concerned find a real perception of the threat, they will do the necessary in accordance with the law.” The court emphasized that if someone was wrong or handled them, the courts and the police authorities were there to come to their rescue. Couples need to learn to support each other and face society. In his order on April 4, the court disposed of the plea and said that the requesters could not claim a matter of natural or right.
