Legislature: Al Khoziny Islamic boarding school’s permit can be revoked if there are serious offenses

Jakarta – Member of Commission VIII DPR Ri Atalia Praratya asked to give permission for Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) to be evaluated. Atalia said the Islamic boarding school’s permit could be revoked if serious offenses were proven. “Al Khoziny Islamic boarding school’s permit, the principle is clear, if there are proven that there are serious offenses or offenses leading to casualties, the institution’s permit must be evaluated, it can even be revoked,” Atalia told reporters Thursday (9/10/2025). “Laws and responsibilities should not be indiscriminate. But at the same time, the process must be performed fairly and transparently so as not to further injure the victims and the Islamic residence world,” he continued. Browse to continue with the contents of her party, Atalia said, the Ministry of Religion will summon after the recessing period ended. The summons will discuss evaluation permits and management of educational institutions, including Islamic residences, throughout Indonesia. “Because we are the ultimate goal for us is not just to regulate permits, but to ensure that safety and well -being are the most important priority at every place of religious education,” he explained. Atalia also said that only 51 of the thousands of Islamic residences have building permits (IMB) or approval (PBG), which is a serious concern. He also supports IMB subsidies for Islamic residences. “We are concerned that many Islamic residences actually have the enthusiasm for orderly administration, but are hampered by complicated licensing processes or forbidden costs,” he said. However, according to him, IMB subsidies and facilities apply not only to Islamic residences, but also to all religious institutions. Because Atalia said that a similar problem was also experienced by the church in North Halmaera. He said in 2024 of the 413 churches in North Halmaera that only one would have an IMB. “This means that the problems of obtaining permits for religious buildings in religions are felt,” he said. “This evaluation must therefore be comprehensive, for example in terms of clarifying the licensing system or increasing socialization by the relevant ministries, so that every religious institution knows and can fulfill it,” he added.
