According to Abdullah, the digital era should help reduce the circulation of counterfeit money, but in reality cash is still dominant, especially in the regions. “The digitization of the payment system must therefore also continue to be expanded, accompanied by strong data protection and security safety. The government must also take strategic steps to face the rise of this matter,” he said. The strategic steps that can be taken by the government are rich in him, namely the strengthening of supervision and law enforcement. Law enforcement officers must also improve coordination to effectively detect and dissolve forged money syndicates. “Law enforcement may not be half measures. It must be thoroughly investigated and eradicated by the network to distribute forged money, which is very detrimental to this community,” Abdullah said. “It is to raise public awareness about the features of real money and steps that need to be taken if you find fake money,” he continued. Abdullah asked the government to improve currency security technology. According to him, Bank Indonesia must continue to update security functions on banknotes to complicate forgery. “Bank Indonesia must also continue to update the security functions of paper money and carry out massive education to the public.
