Lieutenant -Governor Manoj Sinha was served on the meeting of the Executive Council of Shrimata Vaishno Devi University

Jammu, October 13 (IANS). Lieutenant -Governor Manoj Sinha chaired the 36th meeting of the Executive Council of Shrimata Vaishno Devi University in Raj Bhavan Monday. In the meeting, SMVDU vice -chancellor prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, vice -chancellor of Jammu University, prof. Umesh Rai, vice -chancellor of Kashmir University, prof. Nilofar Khan, vice -chancellor and chairman of the Ahmedabad University Management Council, prof. Prof. Ask Sinha and other members were present. The Executive Council discussed several important academic and administrative issues and approved in principle of various agenda points presented at the meeting. The lieutenant governor has instructed the university to conduct an extensive overview of various important initiatives and programs to meet the objectives of the National Education Policy-2020 and regularly update the curriculum to make SMVDU a leading educational institution at the national level. He emphasizes the need for dedicated focus on lifelong learning skills and community involvement, increase in entries, operational collaboration and networks, skills improvement through short -term courses, research, innovation and incubation, patents, the strengthening of faculty and staff and the introduction of new programs from the upcoming academic year. The Lieutenant -Governor has instructed the university to draw up a special faculty for languages ​​to provide integrated courses in Hindi, Dogri, French and German. He emphasized to encourage students enrolled in foreign languages ​​and technical courses to study Hindi and Dogri languages ​​as well. He also instructed SMVDU to implement complete digitization of all records of the University. The meeting also has important issues related to continued projects and construction work at the university, the implementation of new education policy-2020, admissions, recruitment, career promotion of the faculty, non-functional promotions for non-teaching staff, the entire digitalization of the student life cycle management process and the use of e-samarth-dashboard. The chairman was notified that the university was now named ‘TCS Priority College’ by Tata Consultancy Services under its campus placement program for a three -year period. -—Is Ash/BC
