'Highly Frustrating': Social Media Responds as Airtel, Jio, Vodafone-Idea Face Breakdown

Mobile users across India had a difficult Monday night, as Airtel, Jio and Vodafone-Idea Networks disrupted within hours of each other. While many people struggled with calls and mobile data, frustrated subscribers went to social media quickly to share their experiences and claim answers from telecommunications operators. What went wrong, according to the downdetector, Airtel was the first to face an increase in complaints, with more than 3600 interruption reports around 4:32 pm, mainly from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru. By 5:30 pm, the numbers below 2000 dropped as services resumed gradually. Airtel acknowledged the issue on X (formerly Twitter), apologized and users assured it to work to restore services immediately. Only hours later, Jio and Vodafone-Idea users also marked problems. Jio has registered more than 200 complaints of the interruption, while Vodafone-Idea reported nearly 50, affecting cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Jaipur. The interruption of Jio seems to be more widespread and extends to Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Patna and Ahmedabad. Social media reactions The service interruptions have caused a flood of posts on X and other platforms, with users expressing anger, confusion and even concerns about simultaneous disruptions across different networks. Some people demanded immediate elucidation of telecommunications, but others shared their frustration because they were unable to make calls or gain access to mobile internet during working hours. A user wrote: “Airtel down in Delhi? The past 1 hour thinks my wife is ignoring her calls. Thanks @Airtelindia for turning a network issue into a wedding issue.” Another user said, “Can’t make calls or use data services. Looks like a major network break today.” The third questioned: “How much time is needed to repair the server problems @Altelindia, it has been more than 2 hours above?” “Jio Network in Gurgaon, we can’t make calls and use mobile data,” the fourth user wrote on X. ‘The services are completely off. Unable to make or receive calls and even messages work. This causes serious problems. It’s very frustrating, solve this problem, ‘the fifth user wrote. Several users have labeled service providers directly, and request them to issue faster statements and updates. For the time being, Airtel remains the only telecommunications operator who has officially responded, while Jio and Vodafone-Idea have not yet commented on the matter.
