Looking at the parties, JDU is contesting with RJD and VIP in all four seats of the district namely Alamnagar, Bihariganj, Singheshwar (reserved) and Madhepura. RJD candidates are in the fray in Bihariganj, Singheshwar (reserved) and Madhepura and BNP candidates are in the fray in Alamnagar. There are chances of triangular contest in Madhepura: This time the contest is going to be very exciting on Madhepura assembly seat which is a hot seat of the district. Three consecutive MLA prof. Chandeshkhar is again in the fray on RJD ticket. JDU surprised everyone by giving a symbol to Madhepura Municipal Council president Kavita Saha and ignored all the contenders for Madhepura seat. Breaking the tradition in this Yadav dominated seat, for the first time any major party has expressed confidence in Kavita Saha who hails from a non-Yadav i.e. extremely backward class. Meanwhile, engineer Pranav Prakash, who rebelled against RJD and entered the independent arena, seems to be triangulating this fight. There is a direct contest between JDU and RJD in Sinheshwar: This is the first time in Madhepura district that two women candidates are in the fray together. First, the party gave a ticket to JDU’s Kavita Saha from Madhepura seat. Secondly, RJD also gave ticket to former minister Renu Kushwaha on Bihariganj seat. Renu Kushwaha recently left LJP (R) and joined RJD. She was MLA from this seat (formerly Udakishunganj) three times on JDU ticket in February 2005 and November 2005 and in 2010. Here she will be in direct contest with JDU’s Niranjan Mehta, who was elected as MLA twice in 2015 and 2020. MLA Chandrahas Chaupal and JDU’s Ramesh Rishidev got tickets from Sinheshwar (reserved) seat. Ramesh Rishidev was earlier MLA from here in 2010 and 2015. In the last election, there was a close fight between the above two candidates, in which Chandrahas Chaupal won. This time too, both the old rivals are face to face. VIP’s challenge to JDU in Alamnagar: MLA Narendra Narayan Yadav of JDU and Naveen Kumar of VIP are in the fray in Alamnagar seat for seven straight. Here, too, the competitors are old. In the 2020 elections, Naveen Kumar entered the arena on RJD ticket. This time, after nominations from both RJD and BNP, BNP candidates were finally made.
