Khandwa, October 11 (IANS). In a historical statement, the Khandwa Court of Khandwa-based second additional Judge Anil Chaudhary Death Sentence awarded 23-year-old Champalal alias Nandu, son of Jalam Mehar. The accused, a resident of the town of Chhanera, Pandhana, was convicted on December 12, 2024 of the brutal murder of Ramnath Bilotia. This case is related to a horrific incident filed by the woman of the victim, Shanti Bai Bilotia, at the Pandhana police station. According to her statement, around 2:30 a.m. on December 12, 2024, her husband Ramnath came out of the house to urinate. Shanti Bai, who hears the screams, ran out and saw that Nandu Ramnath accused of witchcraft and attacked him with an ax. Despite their screams, Nandu continued the attack and finally beheaded Ramnath. When Nandu threatened the neighbors, including Ramdayal Dhanak and Narayan with an ax, Shanti Bai became scared and ran inside. Borgaon police station under-inspector Ramprakash Yadav acted immediately and caught Nandu of the place himself and seized the murder weapon. A FIR is registered against Nandu in terms of section 103 (1) of the Indian Criminal Act against Nandu. The investigation was conducted scientifically under the guidance of sub -inspector Yadav. The team restored Ramnath’s head and torso separately and the DNA report confirmed that the blood was on Nandu’s clothes and the ax that of the deceased. Assistant district prosecution officer Vinod Kumar Patel prosecuted the case and presented concrete evidence, including the DNA report and the testimony of sub-inspector Yadav. The court considered the evidence conclusive and sentenced Nandu to death. Superintendent of police Manoj Rai closely watched the case and declared it a serious crime.
