Madhya Pradesh: Illegal arms factory busted in farmhouse in Bhind.

Bhopal, October 24 (IANS). Police claimed to have busted an illegal country-made arms factory operating in a rented farmhouse in a remote village in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district. An official gave this information on Friday. Briefing the mediapersons, Bhind Superintendent of Police (SP) Asit Yadav said 12 country-made pistols, three live cartridges and heavy material for making weapons were seized during the raid. A local gang ran a gun manufacturing factory by hiring skilled workers from Uttar Pradesh at Rs 50,000 per month. This illegal factory ran from a farmhouse in Rupwai, where four people were found making pistols during the raid. He said the gang rented a farmhouse for Rs 20,000 a month and called two skilled gunsmiths from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district to make the weapons. This was not a minor crime, but an enterprise on an industrial scale. He explained that the gang created a systematic business, which included monthly salaries and production targets. This action was taken after receiving information from Barohi police station in command Atul Bhadauria. Information was received that a person was trying to sell illegal pistol near the crossing of Amalhari village. The police immediately reached the spot and arrested the suspect. One 32 bore pistol, three 315 bore pistols and three live cartridges were recovered from him. According to the police, the accused told the investigators about the secret weapons factory. The police immediately took action and raided the spot and recovered 12 pistols and raw materials used in the manufacture of weapons. The accused admitted that the material for the weapons was sourced from Etawah, Mainpuri and Etah districts of Uttar Pradesh. They have been active since September 19 and have so far produced 22 pistols, of which at least seven have been sold in the illegal arms market. Three buyers of these weapons have also been arrested, while others are being searched. The head gunsmith who works in the farmhouse is a notorious criminal and is still at large.
