Maharashtra: Heavy damage to crops in Nanded due to heavy rains, the Minister of Agriculture visited

Nanded, September 20 (IANS). The recent heavy rain in the Nanded district of Maharashtra has broken the back of farmers. Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharane visited Mahadev Pimphalgaon of Ardhapur Taluka in the district on Saturday to take the widespread loss of crops and livestock. During this, he investigated the areas in question and discussed their problems with the farmers. In the last few days, heavy rains have caused havoc in many parts of Maharashtra, especially Nanded district. According to the initial assessment, crops of about 7 lakh 74 thousand farmers in the district were damaged. In addition, more than 16 Lakh 21 thousand hectares of agricultural land were affected. Soybean, cotton and other kharif crops suffered huge losses, causing an economic crisis before the farmers. Many farmers also complained about the loss of livestock. In Mahadev Pimplegaon, farmers expressed concern to the Minister of Agriculture. He said the fields were flooded due to rain, which completely destroyed the crops. In addition, complaints have also been reported in the e-crop inspection process regarding technical problems and deadlines. The farmers demanded that transparency and quick action be ensured to assess the loss. The Minister of Agriculture, Dattatraya Bharana, assured the farmers that the government would provide all possible assistance to them. “We stand with the farmers. The loss is quickly assessed and the farmers involved will get relief quickly,” he said. In light of the problems facing e-crop inspection, the government has decided to extend the deadline. Bharan also said that if there are more problems in the future, the time limit will extend further. Minister Dattatraya Bharane instructed the district administration that no one should be included in the assessment of the loss and that the farmers should ensure proper compensation. In addition, he also asked the central government to claim special aid package for the state. Farmers from Nanded say that the rain made a profound impact on their existence. Many farmers have done farming by taking loans and now they are burdened with heavy debt due to the waste of the crop. Local farmer organizations have demanded immediate relief and waiver of the government. Agriculture division officials said teams are constantly investigating for accurate assessment of damage. The government has called on the farmers to introduce the information about the loss on the e-phasal portal as soon as possible, so that the compensation process can be accelerated. – IANS AKS/DKP shares this story -tags
