Maharashtra: Horrific accident on Samriddhi highway, 3 dead, 3 seriously injured

Washim, October 18 (IANS). A horrific road accident took place on Friday night around 2 am near Dawa under Jaulka police station on Samriddhi highway in Washim district of Maharashtra. In this accident, three Myanmar citizens died instantly, while three others were seriously injured. The injured were immediately admitted to hospital and their condition remains critical. According to the information, the Innova car that met with the accident was on its way from Mumbai to visit Jagannath Puri in Odisha. All the people in the car were residents of Myanmar. Due to high speed at night, the driver lost control of the car and the car crashed directly into the road divider. The impact was so strong that the front part of the car was completely damaged. As soon as information about the accident was received, the local police reached the spot and started rescue operations. The police immediately admitted the injured to the nearest hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination. In the initial investigation, high speed and negligence of the driver are considered to be the cause of the accident. However, the police have started a detailed investigation into the case to find out the exact cause of the accident. This accident is another tragic incident in the series of accidents happening on Samriddhi highway. Local people have demanded that security measures on the road be further tightened.
