Maharashtra: NDRF performed successful flood rescue operations in Jalna and Ahilyanagar districts

Pune, September 29 (IANS). The fifth battalion of the NDRF saved the lives of 102 people by doing effective rescue operations led by Commandant Santosh Bahadur Singh amid heavy rain in Jalna and Ahilyanagar districts Maharashtra and heavy drainage of the Jaikwadi Dam. The campaign was conducted based on warnings of the State Ramp Management Authority (SDMA) and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). After the notice of 2,26,368 water from the Jaikwadi Dam was released in the District of Jalna and warned about heavy rainfall, NDRF acted quickly and deployed a rescue team in Shahgarh, Tehsil Ambad, on September 28. On September 29, Flood Water Rescue (FWR) was held in the Mangalur village in Ghanangvi Tehsil. In this campaign, NDRF saved 58 people trapped in the flood, including 44 men and 14 women. At the same time, NDRF also conducted a rescue operation under challenging circumstances in the town of Malthan in Kariath Tehsil of the Ahilyanagar district. The boat industry was not possible due to the mud-filled area and sugarcane fields, which used the team of rope-based rescue technology. In this campaign, 44 people were evacuated to safe places. NDRF teams are constantly coordinating with local officials of the local administration, SDMA, IMD and Dam to act quickly in any emergency. Commander Santosh Bahadur Singh said his teams were ready for every situation and committed to living. This campaign is another example of the readiness and dedication of NDRF. The fifth battalion Pune not only performed technical skills, but also worked with human sensitivity, even in unfavorable conditions.
