Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran: Mother Bharti's son who gave martyrdom for peace establishment in Sri Lanka

The soldiers play a big role not only in maintaining safety, but also to maintain peace. History is full of such stories, when Indian soldiers have lost their lives, not only in their country, but also in other countries in an effort to restore peace. Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran is such a name that sacrificed himself in Sri Lanka in an attempt to restore peace. Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran was born on September 13, 1946 in Bombay, Maharashtra. His father’s name ks. Ramaswamy and the mother’s name were Janaki. He did his schooling of SIES (South Indian Education Society) Mumbai. Graduated in science at the Sies College in 1968. Parameswaran, inspired by the Spirit of Country Service, joined Officers Training Academy (OTA) in 1971. He was appointed from there on June 16, 1972. He was then appointed as a commissioner in the most famous 15 Mahar regiment of the Indian Army. There he served eight years, after which he was admitted to 5 Mahar. During the 15 Mahar and 5 Mahar battalion, Major Parameswaran participated in many anti -extremism campaigns in the northeastern region. For this reason, Operation Pawan was launched by the Indian army in Sri Lanka, while Major Parameswaran was selected to serve in the 8 Mahar Battalion. The 8 Mahar was the first battalion, which was sent to Sri Lanka in 1987. Actually, Sinhalese is a majority community in Sri Lanka. There are also Tamil cubs, which are minorities. The attitude of Sri Lanka’s Singhli -dominated government was not correct with the minority tribes. His interests were ignored. Tamil minorities began to oppose it and began to claim a separate Tamil Eelam state. Many militant organizations of Tamils were formed, one of which was Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). LTTE launched an armed conflict for a separate state, to response on which the Sri Lankan government began targeting the Tamils. Tamil ran and started coming to India. An agreement was reached on July 29, 1987, between India and Sri Lanka to deal with the refugee problem. According to the agreement, India had to send its Indian Peace Conservation (IPKF) to Sri Lanka to face militants, so that peace was established and the refugees stopped coming to India. The IPKF was sent by India. It also included great Ramaswamy Parameswaran. On November 24, 1987, it was reported that a battalion led by Major Parameswaran that a large amount of weapons and ammunition ended up in a house in a village called Kantarodai near Uduvil City of Jaffna. The team of Major Pareshwaran is entrusted with the responsibility of search operation there. When they arrived to search, LTTE militants attacked him. Major Parameswaran and his team boldly fought against the militants, but they were shot and tortured during the fight. He was tortured on November 25, 1987. The bravery and martyrdom of Major Parameswaran is remembered as an inspiring story in Sri Lanka and India.
