The Consumer Affairs Ministry said on Monday that the government had drawn up new rules needed to test, verify and seal before using all domestic, commercial and industrial gas meters in the business world. The concept of these rules proposed under the legal measurement (General) Rules, 2011, aims to bring about accuracy and reliability in the measurement of gas, to prevent the disputes related to the bill, and to protect consumers from defective equipment. Consumers get more security ministry in a statement, “Verify and seal gas meters will prevent more measures, reduce disputes and provide guaranteed security to consumers against faulty or craft equipment.” The structure will match international standards. It is said that consumers will receive the benefit of proper billing, better energy efficiency and low maintenance costs of standardized equipment. Provision has also been made for the re -verification of meters used under the concept of the rules. For this, the compliance structure for manufacturers and distribution companies has been set to comply with the standards of the international legal measurement organization.
