MAKI hopes KPK leadership re-engages 57 former TWK 'victim' employees
Jakarta – A total of 57 former KPK employees who are members of the IM57+ Institute have declared that they want to return to work at this anti-corruption agency. The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) hopes that the KPK leadership will re-engage these former employees. Boyamin Saiman, MAKI coordinator, said that the KPK leadership can now use this moment to improve its image. He assessed that the previous KPK leadership’s decision to fire employees of the National Insight Test (NTA) was definitely wrong. “The ball is actually in the KPK itself. As long as the KPK leadership wants them to return and correct the mistakes of the previous KPK leadership, because in my opinion it was wrong, the KPK leadership that kicked them was wrong. So then the KPK leadership should be the one to ask them to return,” Boyamin told reporters, Monday (20/10/2025). And then Mrs. Lili also had problems,” he added. Boyamin believes that the TWK ‘victims’ should be able to graduate with the best grades, namely Novel Baswedan. He hopes that the KPK leadership can move and propose to the president immediately. “Like my statement earlier, they should have passed the national insight test, they should have had a high ranking. But when they were kicked with the national insight test, it was clearly the fault of the previous KPK leadership,” he said. “So the ball is now in the hands of the KPK leadership, they met, agreed to ask them to return and presented it to the President and also the National Police Chief, because some of them are being held by the National Police to be brought back to the KPK,” he added. Furthermore, Boyamin assessed that this move could be used by the KPK to improve its image. Sia assessed that these employees achieved achievements that definitely made the KPK’s performance better. “And it must be done immediately. Because improving the image of the KPK is what the current KPK leadership needs. Because by bringing them home they will achieve more,” he said. “The big ones will end up being the KPK leaders. Because they are willing to bring them home, and then the KPK will excel, then they will be helped a lot. Actually, what is needed is the KPK leadership itself,” he continued. Previously, 57 KPK employees declared that they wanted to return to work at the anti-corruption agency. They also filed a lawsuit with the Public Information Commission (PIC) demanding that the results of the National Insight Test (NIT) be made public. “All are one (vote). Return to the Corruption Eradication Commission as a form of rights restoration,” chairman of the IM57+ Institute, Lakso Anindito, said when asked on Tuesday (14/10). Lakso said the dispute hearing at KIP was important to expose TWK practices in a transparent manner. He said that in a hearing held on Monday (13/10), representatives of the Information and Documentation Management Officer of the Public Service Agency who represent the TWK organizers were also unable to explain why the TWK result documents at the KPK had remained secret until now. The IM57+ Institute also asked President Prabowo Subianto to take a firm stand to respond to the problems affecting 57 former KPK employees. Lakso believes the government has so far turned a blind eye to recommendations from Komnas HAM and the Ombudsman who stated that the TWK at the KPK five years ago was procedurally flawed and violated the human rights of KPK employees. “This is a good momentum for President Prabowo Subianto to show his commitment to strengthening the KPK by returning the rights of 57 KPK employees to the KPK. This issue has been a protracted issue without clarity even though there were recommendations from Komnas HAM and the Ombudsman,” explains Lakso. (azh/vy)
