Jakarta -The Indonesian Anti -Corruption Society (MAKI) respects President Prabowo Subianto who gave amnesty to PDIP secretary -General Hasto Kristiyanto. Maki assessed that Hasto was entitled because amnesty was an inherent right. “Maybe the KPK feels dissatisfied or not accepted, but it should be enough to feel,” said coordinator Maki Boyamin Saiman when he was contacted on Friday (1/8/2025). He said there was no attempt to tackle the KPK to cancel the amnesty. “In principle, we respect because these rights are inherent, the KPK must also respect because there is no attempt to cancel abolition, amnesty and grace,” he said. “The KPK still has to be wonderful to eradicate corruption, it should not be discouraged,” he continued. Nevertheless, Boyamin still agrees with the KPK. He emphasized that Hasto was still guilty. “That’s right (KPK), Amnesty didn’t delete (Hasto’s mistake), the one that was removed (error) was only abolition,” he said. KPK’s statement from the chairman of KPK Johanis Tanak said the amnesty that Hasto received did not eliminate the acts of corruption committed by the PDIP secretary general. Tanak emphasized that the status of Hasto convicted by the court did not disappear, despite the fact that it gave amnesty. Tanak explained that the mechanism for the award of amnesty was the authority of the president regulated in the Constitution of 1945. Amnesty only eliminated the implementation of punishment to the convicted person, and did not kill the guilty status of the convicted person terminated by the court. “The amnesty given by Hasto Kristyanto is only in the form of not carrying out the sentence, so that people who receive amnesty from the president are still guilty of committing corruption,” Tanak said when he was contacted on Friday (1/8).
