Atul Vasan spoke to Ians and said, “I think it’s a very intelligent decision. Gill plays in three formats and performs very well. This decision reflects the maturity of the selectors.” Vasan said: “Rohit and Virat played big cricket and won the country, but I think the time has come for new players to take lead.” He said that giving the captaincy is to Gill like passing through the stick.
