Vrindavan, October 18 (IANS). The ancient ‘Tosh Khana’ located under the sanctum sanctorum of the world famous Thakur Banke Bihari Temple is being opened on Saturday. This historic action, which will be taken by the Supreme Court under the supervision of the High Power Management Committee, may reveal the secrets of this treasury room which was closed for 54 years. According to the temple administration, the decision to open ‘Tosh Khana’ was taken on September 29. This room will be opened after the darshan of the temple closes on Saturday afternoon. Information about this was given by putting up posters at various places in the temple premises. Curiosity is at its peak among devotees and local people about the possibility of gold and silver jewellery, ancient weapons and other valuables being present in this room which has been closed for the past 54 years. It is believed that this room may contain a warehouse of historical treasures of the temple. To ensure transparency, the High Power Management Committee did not allow any Goswami to participate in the process or list the treasury. This entire action will be completed under the supervision of the committee. The opening of ‘Tosh Khana’ will add a new chapter in the history of Banke Bihari Temple. This process will not only reveal the heritage of the temple, but will also bring to the world the secrets of this chamber that was closed for years. Thakur Banke Bihari Temple is one of the most famous and oldest temples in the whole of India. Located in the Raman Reti area in Vrindavan Dham of Mathura district, this temple is dedicated to ‘Banke Bihari’, the idol form of Lord Shri Krishna. This temple was built in 1864 by Swami Haridas, who was a devoted poet and musician as well as a famous saint. It is said that Lord Shri Krishna and Radha Rani themselves appeared to Swami Haridas in the form of ‘Banke Bihari’. This temple was established at the same place. –IANS DCH/DSC Share this story Tags
