Meghji Lokhande, who clashed with the British for trending laborers, fought to bring freedom to the freedom fighter on the one hand during British rule, on the other hand, there were people who were improving society and system. One of such people was Narayan Meghji Lokhande, known in history as the union leader and social reformer. Narayan Meghaji Lokhande was the first person to lay the foundation of the Labor Movement in India and began to struggle for the rights of the workers. In those days industries in India expanded quickly, but all industries were occupied by the British and the condition of the workers was very bad. Narayan Meghji published a magazine called ‘DeenBandhu’ through which he strongly raised the issues of laborers. He was greatly influenced by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s thoughts and was also associated with his Satyashodhak movement. Only after work in the railroad, the post office, Narayan Meghji, started working as a shopkeeper in a mill. Meanwhile, he came into contact with the workers. He founded the Bombay Mill Hands Association in 1884, which was India’s first union. As a result of the efforts of lure Ji, laborers began getting Sunday holidays in India. Earlier he had to work seven days a week. Meghji, who claimed equal rights for everyone, also did many things for the education and rights of women. He raised his voice against caste discrimination and prevented Hindu Muslim riots from provoking, promoted harmony in society.
