Metabolism: The secret of the body's energy!

Health Metabolism: The Secret of Body’s Energy! We often hear ‘his metabolism is fast’, ‘his metabolism is slow’. But what is the meaning of the word metabolism? Actually, metabolism is the name of all those chemical processes in our body through which our body is able to obtain energy. It is the process of converting food into energy. There are mainly two parts of the metabolic process: catabolism and anabolism. Catabolism means breaking down food to create energy and anabolism builds and repairs the body from energy. You may think that metabolism and digestion are one and the same, but they are not. Through digestion, we break food into smaller pieces and convert them into nutrients. Metabolism converts these nutrients into energy and this energy is then used in breathing, sleeping, walking, studying and many other jobs. The process of breathing in our body is also part of the catabolic part of metabolism, through which every cell of the body is able to produce energy. Even in a state of rest, our body does many things that consume energy. Such as heart rate, digestion, kidney function, brain function, etc. The energy required to carry out these functions of the body is called Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). A person’s metabolism is affected by many things. Such as age, gender, genetics, muscles, lifestyle of the person and also diet. By exercising regularly, eating a protein-rich diet, sleeping well and staying hydrated, metabolism stays good and we stay fit and energetic. For more stories from Life & Style Click Here Click Here
