Metropolitan police chief in the ranks: Changing post-duty security mindset
Jakarta – Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri handed over 8 Pamapta patrol cars to the Sector and District Police ranks. The handover was done during a rally held at the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya field. Inspector General Asep directly led the rally which was held this morning, Wednesday (22/10/2025). Asep handed over the keys of the patrol car directly to Pamapta officials. In this rally, Inspector General Asep asked members to change their mindset when patrolling. He said that patrols are currently no longer carried out for security purposes, but rather for service. Scroll to continue content “We feel that our service to the community is quite good and maybe colleagues last night also saw how I conveyed on TV and social media that, in accordance with the directive of the Chief of Police, Mr. Service, is it clear?” Inspector General Asep said as he led the rally. Asep also emphasized to his staff to always treat the community as family. Including people who stage protests. “So we think that society is not our enemy, yes, that society is our family, our brothers and sisters, who carried out demonstration activities at that time,” Asep said. This two-star general of the National Police also said that with the patrol cars that are provided, Pamapta’s ranks can be more responsive to serve the needs of the community. He also asked that the service provided should be optimal. “Pamapta, because we can do this to respond more quickly to the needs of the community that needs help from members of the National Police,” said Asep. “I ask again, provide maximum service, provide excellent service and provide prompt service to the community, for people who need it, remember that the people who contact us are people who are experiencing problems,” he continued. On this occasion he also reminded his staff not to act negatively. He emphasized that no member should hurt the feelings of the community. “I visited many people this morning, whether it was a warrant for the KKEP or PTDH hearing, I was sad to see it, please remind all the members, this is enough, there is no need for more deviant things to happen, this is enough, no more members who do negative things, which hurt the people’s hearts, I ask,” he concluded.
