Mexico City, September 20 (IANS). The Mexico government said the amount used on September 15 from the National Lottery Draw to expand safety programs for migrants living in the US. Mexico took a special Lotto draw on September 15. According to news agency Xinhua, National Lottery chief Oloman Soloman said the draw sold 338.5 million peso (about 18.4 million US dollars), with an income of 115.9 million peso after the prize money was paid. The Director General of the National Lottery also said that President Sheenbam ordered that the money raised from this draw will be used after the price distribution to strengthen consulates and security for the citizens of Mexico who live abroad, especially at a time when they experience uncertainties. Mexico Minister Juan Ramon de La Foints said this amount will be used to support 6 initiatives designed to strengthen the consulates of Mexico and provide better legal, human and first aid. Related schemes include the support of legal representation, the inspection of the detention center, increasing the number of consulate employees in many claimed places and responding to natural disasters. The Foreign Minister said: “This work will be done with transparency, with quarterly evaluation and public reports.” To this, President Claudia Sheenbam said: “The highest priority is to pay the bail of our countrymen, which is often very difficult for them to carry.” Earlier this month, the Mexico government officially participated in the special draw ‘Mexico with NM for Migrant’ of the National Lottery, held on September 15 at 4pm. The purpose of this initiative is to honor the Mexican migrants who help their families and communities while living abroad.
