Michigan Church Shooting: Bodycam Video Show the police who confront the suspect Thomas Jacob Sanford after deadly attack
Michigan police released a video in which they captured the intense moments when they confronted Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, who was accused of chasing his truck in a chapel in Michigan, opening the fire on hundreds of worshipers and burning the church, which led to four deaths and eight injuries last week. According to police, he was fatally shot outside the building about eight minutes after the attack began. The footage shows at a press conference Friday, depicting two officers to the suspect in the church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints parking lot in Grand Blanc. As they approach, they command him to drop his weapon, and yell “shoot him” and “come back” before firing at least eight rounds. At the end of the short video, the body of the suspect is visible on the ground. US military records indicate that Sanford was a veteran in the Iraq war that served in the Marine Corps between 2004 and 2008. At a Monday news conference, police and other officials shared some additional details about Sanford’s background. According to Reuters, Reuben Coleman, the acting special agent of the FBI’s Detroit field office, mentioned: “The FBI is investigating it as an act of targeted violence, and we continue to work to determine a motive.” Township police chief William Renye mentioned that Sanford had previous arrests but did not provide further information. Sanford ‘Hated People of the Mormon Faith’ Press Secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, said on Monday that Sanford Hatred Mormone. She told ‘Fox & Friends’,’ based on my conversations with the FBI director, all they know now is that it was an individual who hated people of the Mormon belief, and they try to understand more about this, how prioritized, how much planning went, or left a note. All the questions still have to be answered, but will surely be answered by the FBI. ‘ The Detroit Free Press reported that the candidate of the Burton City Council, Kris Johns, said he had spoken to Sanford a week before, and that Sanford had referred to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the Last Days as “the Antichrist”. Johns noted the newspaper that they were not talking about politics, but he noticed a campaign sign for President Donald Trump on Sanford’s fence. A Google Maps image also shows a Trump sign at the address listed online as belonging to Sanford. According to the New York Times, Sanford’s hostility to the church of Jesus Christ was rooted from the saints of the last days more than ten years ago in a break -up with a dedicated Mormon girlfriend, as told by two years of friends and others who are familiar.
