Microsoft launched Copilot Shopping, an AI-enhanced shopping experience built into its Copilot app for web and mobile users, and offers a streamlined purchase journey of end-to-end powered by artificial intelligence. The new function is also expected to arrive on AI-ridden table computers in the near future. Copilot Shopping, announced during the 50th anniversary celebrations of Microsoft, is aimed at comparing and buying the way user products online discover, compare and buy. The system allows users to explore items based on natural language inquiries, tracking prices, consumer reviews and even complete purchases without leaving the app ever. According to a recent post by Microsoft Copilot’s official account on X, the function builds on the company’s efforts to bring generative AI to everyday tasks. This comes shortly after similar Google and Openai initiatives, which are looking for AI shopping capabilities via respectively and introduces chatgpt. Copilot shopping works as a comprehensive virtual assistant that begins with the discovery of the product and the user to the completion. Users can ask specific or open questions as “What is the best smart watch for fitness tracking?” or “I start learning photography. What equipment do I need?” – and the AI will respond with compound, interactive visual maps that show relevant products. These product lists contain summaries, technical specifications, advantages and disadvantages, and user-generated reviews. Once a product is selected, Copilot compares prices between various retailers, showing users the most competitive rates. From there, buyers can continue to check inside the app, avoiding the need to switch between different e-commerce platforms. One of the more innovative aspects of copilot shopping is the price insignificance. The tool displays the historical price range of a product and allows users to set up a preferred purchase price using a sliding level. If and when the price of the product corresponds to the desired level, the app sends a notice, which the user asked to finalize the purchase directly. Microsoft started testing the shop function last month, as reported by Testingcatalog. With the launch now underway, the technical giant Copilot shopping positions as an AI first retail companion, providing comfort and insight into an increasingly overcrowded e-commerce landscape.
